Contingency Plan
For the contingency plan, I started by writing the plans for if the cast/crew were ill. This was fairly easy to do for the crew however the casting was harder as the person would need to know the lines and would need to be comfortable saying them. I put a member of our group in as the 'back-up' member as we are all confident in what is happening and we have all seen the script. After this I then decided on the potential technical issues that could go wrong.

Our news show is called South Essex News or as abbreviated SEN. It will consist of the top local stories of the north-south region of England in a 20 minute time slot at 6 o’clock on a main stream channel.

Our news show will begin at the Anchor’s desk where he will read out the stories that will be reported on during the show. These stories are about, Basildon, A Teenager jailed for 21 years, London Southend Airports busiest year, Canvey island sea wall, Southbank skatepark, Train ticket prices and Southend Football’s FA cup draw. After the stories are read out the titles would role.

After the Titles the Anchor will read the introduction to the first story at the desk. This will be the booming Basildon story. The Anchor will say the main points about the story before playing the VT on the story. The VT will go into more detail on the housing plans and developments of the new college campus.

Once returned from the VT the anchor will be standing up by the TV Screen and will read the whole story of Eric Cantona Brophy, and go into detail as to how and why he has been sentenced to 21 years in jail. Once the story is read, still in the same position the anchor will introduce the story about Southend Airports busiest year before playing the matching VT. This will include information as to how many people flew with the airport last year.

Once back in the studio from the VT the anchor will then be sitting at the desk to introduce the Canvey Island Sea Wall story before again, Playing the VT which will have an interview with canvey councillor, Ray Howard.
Once back from the VT the Anchor will be standing at the TV Screen To introduce the weather.  A short interaction will take place between the anchor and the weather presenter before the weather presenter will read the forcast for the next couple of days along with a blue screen image ocumpanying the weather. After the weather the show will come to its mid point add break

After the add break a shortend version of the titles will role. Then the anchor will sit down at the desk and re cap the storys stil to come before reading an introduction to the southbank story. After  the introduction a VT will be shown including interviews from people involved and facts and stats about the long live Southbank campaign

Once back in the studio from that VT the anchor will be standing at the television screen to read the whole story on Southend United. This will go into more detail about its 4th round FA Cup draw and explain the financial gains of the game being televised. This will then be followed directly with the breaking news story. (to be decided on the day)

Still at the Television screen after the breaking news story the anchor will introduce the story on train ticket price increase. This story will hold quotes from national rail representatives as to what they think about the increase and many facts and figures to help illustrate the rise to viewers. After the introduction has been read the VT with the above information will be shown.

Diary Entry:

Today is the day. The angels have swept down and have taken another soul to embrace in a new life of happiness. Mother is no longer with us. She passed into a new world, peacefully though, a cocktail at her side, the sun shimmering over the ocean waves with the sound of seagulls flying above. Mother loved Spain, I remember when she took me to swim with dolphins, we'd never laughed so much when it bit my foot… She isn't in pain now and she died a happy women in a place true to her heart.

Feelings of loss but also relief. She went in a hot air balloon and saw the sun rise over the Valley of the Kings, she went to America and saw the Hollywood Hills. She made each day count, an endless parade of fond memories. She loved to travel, I remember when she first went to spain, she would sit at the Bar Elsa every evening, watching the moonlight glisten on the dark body of ocean water.

Where do I go from here? Can I exchange one life for another? - If a caterpillar can, why can't I? Mother said she wants me to live in happiness, to never let anyone stop me having fun. She was my inspiration, my heart. Rest in peace mother.

Comment from Becky and Ris:

we loved it it so realistic and feels true very
loved how you spoke about about feelings and gave rislene shivers and is very simple and very understandable as if people can relate to it.

its so cutely written, feels calm but powerful.love the rhetorical questions thrown in at the end to show the character is confuzzeled

Set Design - Bluescreen [2]

For the bluescreen background, we decided to have the blue TV however we thought that it needed something in it. We originally decided to have the SEN logo in it, however we then decided to put a photo in the TV that is associated with the story being told.

I compiled a draft picture of possible background photos. We decided on using the chosen photos apart from the Basildon and Breaking News one. The quality of the Basildon photo wasn't high enough and we changed the style of the breaking news one.

In after effects, I placed in the digital set loop then with the photo in. This looked too plain like this so I put the blue background in (that is featured in our logo) which made it look a lot better.

I then exported the file, 1920 by 1080. One this has done, I tested the background as a loop in a video editor to check that it worked fine. - It was fine for them all apart from the Southbank one which I needed to render an extra frame in After Effects. I then changed this.

All of the backgrounds have the small television screens moving slightly with a stationary image however the breaking news one has the words 'breaking' and 'news' moving, to attract the audiences attention more. The colour red is associated with danger/warning so they would be more inclined to look and find out what the breaking news is. I made the words move in Sony Vegas before exporting it and putting it as an overlay on the digital set in AE.

The weather presenter is standing in front of a blue-screen with the weather VT playing.

SANA HUFTY

it's looking like a wet start of the day for most of us tomorrow James and as we go through the next few days, we're going to be looking at some mixed showers for all of Essex with the temperatures dropping and the winds getting stronger. That takes us up to Thursday.

Forecast for Tuesday is shown.
SANA

So tomorrow it's going to be a dry start to the day with some mild temperatures creeping in. We will have some light wind blowing in a north-east direction. So the temperatures will be about 8 or 9 degree's with a top temperature tomorrow of about 10 degrees, staying cloudy over night.

Forecast for Wednesday is shown.

SANA

So moving into Tuesday, we start the day with some heavy showers which will persist for most of the morning and the wind will be a lot stronger. The rain will be migrating east leaving us dry at mid-afternoon. Temperatures will be slightly lower at around 7 degrees. Coming into the evening, the clouds will go away, leaving a cold night ahead, with temperatures at around 2 degrees.

Southend Football Club's Home tie against Hull in the 4th round of this year’s FA CUP has not been chosen to fill one of the 5 television slots for 4th round matches. In doing so they have missed out on what would have been a very welcome 144,000 pounds, however the club is still eligible for a 90 thousand pound prize from the FA Prize fund for the winning teams. The match was one of 16 matches competing for the 5 slots. It is however not all doom and gloom as the Blues have already picked up 112,500 pounds for making it to the 4th round of the competition. Kick off for the match is at 3 o'clock on the 25th of January.

The price of train tickets has gone up by 2.8%. This has put up the price of a one return ticket from Rayleigh to Southend Victoria by 20 Pence. It does not sound like much but for a 30 day month that rises the previous prices by 6 Pounds a month. An unwelcome rise in difficult times. Joe Mander has the full report.
